Users must be 190 cm or under, 40-150 kg, able to walk independently and able to follow fitting guidance.
Use starts only after strap adjustment, comfort check, battery check and first assisted steps.
Use the unit at walking pace. Do not run, jump, scramble, climb rocks or carry another person.
Use public walking paths, lookout paths, stairs and formed tracks that suit your own ability and conditions.
The unit is splash resistant, not waterproof. Avoid heavy rain, water crossings, flooded tracks, ice and unsafe wind conditions.
Stop and contact Exo Motion if you feel pain, dizziness, discomfort, unusual device behaviour or unsafe terrain.
Stairs and slopes
Exo Motion can assist walking on stairs, slopes and longer routes, but it does not remove normal trip, slip or fall risks. Use handrails where available, slow down on wet stone or steel steps, and descend carefully.
On stairs, the device is intended to support the lifting phase of each step. It should not be used to rush a climb, overtake other visitors or attempt steps that already feel unsafe without the device. If a staircase is crowded, wet, damaged, poorly lit or affected by wind or weather, wait, choose another route or return the unit early.
Routes and responsibility
Guests choose their own public route based on ability, time, weather, track status and personal judgement. Exo Motion can provide general guidance, but it does not guarantee that a route is open, suitable or risk-free on the day.
For Sydney and Blue Mountains rentals, guests should check public route notices, park closures, weather warnings and transport timing before they leave. The rental includes fitting and general safety guidance; it does not include guided tour supervision unless a separate arrangement has been confirmed in writing.
Eligibility and fitting limits
The standard guest criteria are 190 cm maximum height and 40-150 kg supported weight range. The user must be able to stand, walk independently, communicate discomfort, understand instructions and remove the unit if asked. Guests should not use the product while affected by alcohol, recreational drugs, severe fatigue or any condition that makes walking unsafe.
People recovering from surgery, living with neurological conditions, experiencing balance problems or using prescribed mobility aids should obtain advice from their own doctor, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or care provider before booking. Exo Motion can provide product information and fitting notes, but it does not make clinical suitability decisions.
Battery and device care
Battery life depends on route, slope, user weight, assist level, temperature and usage conditions. Do not open the battery case, modify the device, wash the unit, expose it to heavy rain or leave it in direct heat. If the unit shows an alert, unusual noise, loose strap, battery issue or inconsistent assistance, stop using it and contact Exo Motion support.
Do not use Exo Motion for these activities
- Running, jumping, sport, racing or stunts.
- Rock climbing, abseiling, canyoning, scrambling or water crossings.
- Off-track walking, unstable surfaces, icy surfaces or flooded areas.
- Medical treatment, rehabilitation without clinical supervision, or full body-weight support.
Insurance context
Exo Motion carries $20M public liability insurance and $20M product liability insurance for approved rental operations, subject to policy terms, exclusions and onboarding scope. Insurance does not replace guest responsibility for safe use and following instructions.
