What could Exo Motion cost after AT-HM funding?

A$2,499 is the private purchase price. Your personal funded cost needs a written provider calculation, not just a funding-tier subtraction.

Start with the price we can confirm

Exo Motion Pro is A$2,499. For eligible Sydney customers, our free consultation and home demonstration include personal fitting, a guided product trial and training. Purchase includes a 12-month warranty in addition to Australian Consumer Law rights. Ask for a dated, itemised quote before your provider considers an order.

Compare the published tiers carefully

The Department of Health's AT-HM page, last updated 1 July 2026 and checked on 14 September 2026, lists the amounts below. These are funding tiers, not a promise of a payment towards this device. Your plan, remaining balance and approved costs must be checked.

Illustrative comparison with the A$2,499 device price, not a personal quote
Published tierDevice-price comparisonWhat it does not tell you
Low: under A$500The device price exceeds A$500 by A$1,999; a lower allocation leaves a larger gap.Whether this item is approved, or how much remains available.
Medium: up to A$2,000A$2,499 minus A$2,000 equals A$499.A$499 is not a guaranteed customer payment or an approval to top up.
High: up to A$15,000, or more if neededThe device price is below the nominal high-tier limit.A higher limit does not mean a free device or approval to spend it.

Why the A$499 calculation is not your final bill

Imagine comparing a fresh A$2,000 allocation with the device price alone. The arithmetic gap is A$499. But your allocation might already support other items, and assessment, prescription or related services can affect the arrangement. A participant contribution may also apply. The provider must explain whether the item fits the approved budget or whether a support plan review is needed.

Do not pay a supposed shortfall on the assumption that the rest will be reimbursed. Ask the provider for a written purchase pathway first. A simple sales discount, private top-up or purchase made before approval does not create an entitlement to government funding.

Request these four figures in writing

  1. Total approved cost: the exact device and any separately arranged services.
  2. Available funding: the allocation or other approved funds that can actually be used for this item.
  3. Your contribution: the amount and explanation provided for your circumstances.
  4. Any other payment: whether it is permitted, who receives it and when it becomes due.

Also ask who places the order and who receives the invoice. A family member researching on a parent's behalf should confirm that the parent or authorised representative understands and accepts the arrangement. Our supplier quote checklist helps keep these details together.

Private choices remain separate

If funding is declined or still pending, a suitable person may purchase privately or enquire about A$129-per-week senior rental. The four-week minimum is A$516. Rental availability, security arrangements, fitting and written terms apply. Rental fees are not automatically deducted from a later purchase, and rental does not guarantee later funding.

Read rent or buy alongside this guide. The right comparison includes how long you expect to use the device, whether it suits your routine and who supports charging and fitting, not only the initial payment.

Make the next conversation easier

Try the AT-HM information self-check if you are unsure who to contact. It is not an approval tool. Exo Motion can explain its quote and, with written consent, send supplier information to your care manager. We cannot set your contribution or promise a free product.

Funding information is national; free home demonstrations remain Sydney-based. Contact us before assuming interstate delivery, fitting or support is available. The product is for selected adults who already walk independently; follow the safety guidance and seek clinical advice when needed.

Common questions

Is my cost definitely A$499 with medium-tier funding?

No. A$499 is only A$2,499 minus A$2,000. It ignores remaining allocation, approved costs, participant contributions and whether a top-up or support plan review is required. Ask the provider for a written calculation.

Does the high tier make Exo Motion free?

No. A tier limit does not approve a specific item or remove participant contributions. The provider must confirm the individual purchase arrangement.

Can I buy now and claim later?

Do not rely on retrospective reimbursement. Obtain written provider approval and ordering instructions before purchasing if you need funding.
