AT-HM Aged Care Pathway

How AT-HM
rental can work.

The aged-care rental pathway gives families, providers and OTs a practical way to trial Exo Motion Pro before considering longer rental or purchase. It can be discussed as a private rental option or alongside Support at Home and AT-HM assessment processes where appropriate.

Under official Support at Home guidance, AT-HM funding depends on assessed need, the participant's Notice of Decision and support plan, provider process, documentation, participant contribution rules and approval. Exo Motion can provide product information, fitting details, quotes and trial documentation for review.

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing notes that AT-HM items may be accessed through assistive technology suppliers, private rental arrangements or loan pathways where appropriate. Exo Motion Pro can be offered as a weekly or monthly trial rental while the care team assesses fit, use case and next steps.

Who It's Designed For

For older Australians, providers
and families assessing support.

Exo Motion Pro may suit older adults who can already walk but want support for longer days, gentle slopes, stairs, gardens, community outings or supervised activity programs.

Home
Ageing in place
Older Australians and families who want a structured way to assess whether wearable robot support helps with daily walking routines, gardens, letterboxes or local outings.
Good fit when the person can walk safely and wants extra support rather than full body-weight assistance.
Rehab
Post-hospital recovery
Short-term users who want a supervised trial after a change in confidence, stamina or routine. Clinical suitability should be confirmed by the treating team.
Best assessed with an OT, physiotherapist, provider or care coordinator where falls risk or rehabilitation needs are present.
Active
Active older adults
Mobile older adults who still choose walking groups, gardens, community activities and scenic outings, but want support for fatigue management.
Useful for structured activity goals, not a substitute for mobility aids, therapy or medical advice.
50%
Reduction in leg fatigue on uphills and long routes
35-40%
Reduction in knee and hip joint load on 15 degree inclines
2.1 kg
Total weight - lighter than most standard walking frames
6 hrs
Rental sessions capped at up to 6 hours, depending on use

Compliance and Confidence

ARTG context.
Guided fitting.
Careful assessment.

The source product technology has ARTG inclusion as a Medical Device Included Class 1 entry. Exo Motion uses this as compliance confidence while assessing each aged-care use case separately.

The aged-care pathway is not positioned as a cure or medical treatment. It is a rental and trial pathway for wearable robot support, with suitability assessed against the person, environment and supervision needs.

Families and providers can request a fitting discussion, safety notes, product specifications and trial workflow documentation before making a decision.

Common Questions

Aged care rental
questions.

Can AT-HM be used for Exo Motion rental?
Official Support at Home guidance says assistive technology can be accessed through suppliers, private rental arrangements and loan pathways where appropriate. Exo Motion can provide rental, quote and product documentation, but AT-HM support depends on assessed need, provider process, support plan, participant contribution rules and approval.
Is AT-HM approval guaranteed?
No. Exo Motion does not guarantee AT-HM, Support at Home or provider funding. The safest first step is an enquiry and suitability discussion, followed by provider or OT review where appropriate.
How much will the participant pay out of pocket?
The listed rental price starts at $199 per week. Any contribution, reimbursement or funded portion depends on the person's aged-care assessment, provider decisions, support plan and approval. Self-funded private trials are also available.
What is the first step?
Start with an enquiry so Exo Motion can understand the user, setting and goals. We can then discuss a private trial, provider/OT review, or documentation needed for an AT-HM pathway. No funding or ownership outcome should be assumed before approval.
How does the OT trial program work?
OT practices and aged-care providers in NSW and VIC can enquire about pilot access. We provide fitting guidance, product information, safety notes and simple trial documentation. Pilot availability is assessed case by case.
Can Exo Motion support provider documentation?
Yes. Exo Motion can provide product information, fitting notes, rental quotes and trial documentation for providers, OTs and Support at Home coordinators to review. This support is documentation only and does not decide eligibility.
