The short answer
Can NDIS fund a walking exoskeleton in Australia?
NDIS funding may be possible when the proposed walking support meets the participant's disability-related needs, funding rules and plan requirements, with suitable evidence. Exo Motion Pro is not automatically NDIS funded. ARTG inclusion, a budget category or another participant's approval does not approve your purchase.
Exo Motion Pro costs A$2,499 plus A$80 delivery: A$2,579 delivered for one unit. It is a powered hip-assist device for suitable adults who already walk independently, not a full body-weight support system. Start with an appropriate AT advisor and the candidate profile. NDIS explains how it considers assistive technology.

Start with a conversation, not a payment. Each step is a checkpoint; an enquiry does not commit you to buying or establish funding eligibility.

- Enquiry
Discuss your walking goals and the candidate profile before focusing on a particular device.
Skipping this checkpoint can mean pursuing powered hip assistance without first checking whether it is relevant to the person's needs.
- Plan-type check
Identify who manages your equipment funding and confirm the supplier and payment requirements.
Skipping this checkpoint can send the quote to the wrong contact or leave the required supplier arrangement unresolved.
- Advisor evidence
Ask your advisor to compare options and risks, including comfort during an appropriate demonstration.
Skipping this checkpoint can leave discomfort or evidence gaps unaddressed, and more suitable alternatives overlooked.
- Itemised quote
Request supplier documents and a quote: A$2,499 unit + A$80 delivery = A$2,579. Check any independent professional fees separately.
Skipping the complete cost check can leave an unexpected charge or funding shortfall that the unit price alone does not reveal.
- Purchase checkpoint
Confirm suitability, funding, supplier, payment and fitting arrangements before ordering. Pause if anything is unresolved.
Paying before those checks can leave you responsible for a private purchase that is not reimbursed.
You can stop, defer or choose another support at any point before ordering. The diagram is not an approval process administered by Exo Motion.
Before a purchase
Could NDIS funding support an Exo Motion purchase?
An NDIS participant can discuss a proposed Exo Motion Pro purchase with their assistive technology advisor and plan team. A wearable robot is not automatically an eligible support: the individual need, product suitability, evidence and available plan funding must be considered before an order is placed.
The NDIS requires supports to meet its funding criteria, including disability-related need, suitability and value for money. A price within a funding band does not establish eligibility. See the NDIS guidance on providing assistive technology.
Exo Motion is a supplier, not a funding decision-maker. We do not advertise the device as universally "NDIS approved", promise a successful application or assume that one participant's decision applies to another person. ARTG inclusion and customer videos do not determine NDIS funding.
Looking for aged-care funding instead? Read the separate Support at Home AT-HM guide. AT-HM category 12 02 is not an NDIS item code or an approval that transfers between schemes.
Individual funding experience
Two individual NDIS approvals, not a blanket entitlement.
Exo Motion reports two individual NDIS funding approvals for Exo Motion Pro. These are participant-specific decisions, not general NDIS approval of the device or a guarantee for another applicant. Customer identities and plan documents are not published here.
We have not published identifiable case records or claimed that these decisions establish a clinical outcome. Your advisor and plan team still need to consider your circumstances. Start with the comparison with a rollator and other suitable options, then obtain an itemised quote.
Start with the person
Walking support needs an individual suitability check.
Exo Motion Pro provides powered hip assistance for suitable adults who already walk independently. The supplier's starting fit range is 150-190 cm and 40-150 kg, subject to an individual fitting. It does not carry the person's full body weight or replace a prescribed mobility aid.
Discuss a specific everyday activity, such as a familiar community walk. Consider putting the device on and taking it off, operating the controls, charging it, storage and access to assistance. The published candidate profile gives a starting point, not a complete medical screening or contraindication list.
A guided demonstration can help identify whether the fit and assistance feel useful. Record discomfort, unwanted movement, difficulty using the controls and reasons to stop, not just distance walked. A positive video or short demonstration is not enough to establish ongoing suitability.
Keep the person's prescribed supports and clinical advice in place. Where there are falls concerns, unexplained walking changes or uncertain suitability, seek advice from the treating professional. Read the professional discussion guide and safety guidance.
Evidence, not a guarantee
What should an advisor document?
NDIS mid-cost assistive technology covers items costing A$1,500-A$15,000. Exo Motion Pro's published price falls within that cost band. The NDIS accepts written mid-cost evidence as a letter, email or report from an appropriate advisor; this is not a promise that no professional assessment will be needed.
The advisor's evidence should identify the item, expected cost, disability-related goals and why it offers value compared with alternatives. Risk matters separately from price. The NDIS also asks advisors to consider the person's function, options considered or trialled, practical risks and how those risks will be managed. Read the NDIS evidence requirements.
AT advisor versus assessor
Mid-cost written evidence need not automatically be a formal high-cost assessment. An appropriate advisor still needs to consider suitability and risk. A qualified assessor's formal report is required for high-cost items over A$15,000. Read the exoskeleton evidence and reasonable and necessary guide before assuming that price removes the need for professional advice.
NDIS Capital budget: Category 05
Category 05 identifies assistive technology in the Capital budget. It is not an Exo Motion claim code or approval. Check the Category 05 purchase-budget guide against the actual equipment support and funding in your plan.
A supplier file to discuss with your advisor
- An itemised Exo Motion Pro quote, including delivery and what fitting and training cover.
- The current product documents, fit information and relevant regulatory documentation.
- Notes from any agreed demonstration, including limitations and the person's feedback.
- The proposed handover, support contact and arrangements for any follow-up.
A manufacturer-approved directions-for-use document and approved specification sheet have not yet been supplied for our public pack. The available downloads are supplier summaries, not clinical instructions. Obtain and review the current documents before finalising supply; do not treat this webpage as a substitute.
View the supplier specification summary or request current documents and a written quote. Please do not send diagnoses, NDIS numbers or participant records through a public enquiry form. Agree consent and a suitable channel first.
Who buys and pays under each NDIS arrangement?
Check the management type for the equipment funding before an order. Supplier choice and invoice processing are different from an individual funding decision.
| Plan management | Purchase pathway | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Self-managed | You manage supplier payment and the claim. | Check eligible funding and evidence before paying. |
| Plan-managed | Your plan manager handles the invoice and claim. | Confirm the quote recipient and required documents. |
| NDIA-managed | A registered NDIS provider is required. | Confirm a registered supplier; Exo Motion registration is not established here. |
Read the plan-managed, self-managed and NDIA-managed purchase guide. Official NDIS purchasing guidance.
A clear purchase process
From an enquiry to a supported decision.
Confirm your plan arrangements
Speak to your NDIS contact, support coordinator or plan manager about the relevant funding and evidence before committing to a purchase. Do not assume that an unfunded private order will be reimbursed.
Discuss suitability and compare options
Involve an appropriate assistive technology advisor. Decide whether a demonstration is appropriate and what observations would be useful. A family member or support person can attend an eligible Sydney home visit.
Request the supplier information
With your consent, Exo Motion can coordinate the quote and product paperwork with your nominated advisor or plan manager. You retain control of your decisions. We cannot replace the advisor's evidence, approve funding or lodge an application simply because you submit an enquiry.
Confirm payment and supply authority
NDIA-managed participants must purchase through a registered NDIS provider. Do not assume Exo Motion holds this registration; confirm an appropriate supplier arrangement before ordering. Plan-managed and self-managed participants have broader supplier choice, subject to their plan and support requirements. Check the NDIS purchasing guidance.
Agree delivery and training
Check the invoice recipient, delivery address, included training and after-sales contact. Exo Motion dispatches within one business day after confirmation, with delivery within three business days in total. The 12-month written warranty is additional to Australian Consumer Law rights. Confirm any ongoing service costs separately.
NDIS purchase questions.
Has Exo Motion had individual NDIS funding approvals?
Exo Motion reports two individual NDIS funding approvals for Exo Motion Pro. These are participant-specific decisions, not general NDIS approval of the device or a guarantee for another applicant. Customer identities and plan documents are not published here.
Can NDIS fund a walking exoskeleton?
It may be possible where the proposed support meets the participant's disability-related needs, scheme rules and plan requirements, with suitable evidence. There is no automatic brand-level approval or guarantee that a particular participant will be funded.
Is Exo Motion Pro automatically funded by the NDIS?
No. Funding depends on the individual participant, eligible support, evidence and plan arrangements. A cost-band match, ARTG inclusion or another customer's experience is not a funding approval.
Does the A$2,499 price mean no assessment is needed?
No. The price is within the NDIS mid-cost band, but written advisor evidence and appropriate suitability and risk advice are still important. The responsible professional determines what assessment is appropriate.
Can Exo Motion help with paperwork?
With your consent, we can supply a quote and product information and liaise with your nominated advisor or plan manager. Clinical evidence and funding decisions remain with the responsible professionals and scheme. You may still need to participate in assessment and approval steps.
Can I use AT-HM category 12 02 for my NDIS claim?
Do not assume so. AT-HM and NDIS are different schemes. Ask your NDIS advisor or plan manager to confirm the applicable support and purchasing process for your plan.
What if it does not feel right during the trial?
Pause the demonstration and tell the fitter or supervising professional if the assistance feels uncomfortable or unsettling. Do not push through discomfort. Keep prescribed supports in place and seek professional advice for symptoms or safety concerns. Record the concern so your advisor can consider another option. There is no obligation to buy after a demonstration.
